Good vibrations

Round 4: 1991-1995

Jack and Grace enjoy watching some cartoons before they have to head off to school.

Despite of their poor financial situation Olivia and Kurt wouldn't trade their life for anything. They have each other and two beautiful children.

The school is closed due to the heavy snowfall so Olivia takes the kids to the Farmer's Market with her. There's not much for children to do but Grace and Jack amuse themselves by building snowmen.

Olivia is still pretty hopeless on the cash register. And the fact that she's dealing with a semi-celebrity like Stella Harris makes her even more nervous.

Kurt watches cooking shows to find his inspiration for culinary again. His career hasn't taken off the way he had hoped and he's starting to get a bit frustrated.

Olivia wants to grow organic food. Instead of using loads of fertilizers she talks to the plants. She promises the cucumber plants that soon they'll see the rays of sun again.

Grace hasn't lost her interest in science. The family can't afford to buy a telescope so that she could observe the outer space so she has to settle for an ant farm.

Poor Kurt! Just as he thought his career was starting to get better - he was promoted up to Prep Cook - he makes a huge mistake with an important client and is demoted way down to Dish Washer. He doesn't know how to break the news to Olivia.

Grace prepares for a chess tournament at school by playing against older students. Sam Cooper isn't so thrilled to spend his free-time with a much younger kid though.

Jack has much better success with Paige Harper when they rehearse for a school dance.

Jack and Grace celebrate their birthday simply by eating dinner. Kurt is at work and Olivia is busy with the greenhouse. And the family couldn't afford a party anyway.

Grace checks herself out in the mirror. Not bad, she thinks. However looks aren't that important to her. She's determined to become a doctor someday.

Jack on the other hand wants to make out with as many girls as possible. He practices his dance routines in hopes to woo the ladies with his swaying hips when he goes out.

Notes:
  • Title from "Good vibrations" by The Beach Boys
  • I absolutely love the classic dance animation for kids. This was the first time I've seen it in my game.
  • I have a feeling that Jack might become the first teen that doesn't go to uni. The family can't afford to pay for both kids and since Grace is Knowledge and Jack is Romance, it would make sense that Grace gets to go to college.

  1. I didn't know kids could do the classic dance. That's so cute! I hope this family's finances improve soon!

  2. I cannot wait to install AL and Mansion and Garden. I have been putting it off for so long and than I forgot. That animation is really cute.

  3. Their financial situation is getting better - sort of. I'm slowly changing the loan system in Wellington from Monique's computer to Inge's mortgage shrubs. With the computer, the interest rate is just too high so the loan just keeps increasing.

  4. The classic dance animation is seriously adorable. Poor Kurt, though. He just can't catch a break!

  5. Really like the pics of the kids dancing! Did they start dancing autonomously?

  6. Classic dance for kids is adorable! I make mine do it all the time. LOL.

I'm glad Grace is Knowledge - it seems to really fit her.

  7. Jack and Paige didn't start the dance autonomously. I've been waiting for a long time to see it so I made them do it.

I always roll the dice for aspirations and I was very happy when Grace got Knowledge. I'm also looking forward to playing Jack through his teenage years as a Romance sim.
