Breathe slow

Round 14: Spring 2021
last update/next update

Patrick Marlowe is 74, Alexandra Hayes is 47, Quinn is 45, Aaron and Ethan are 13 and Jeremy is 10.
(
Stephen is 20, Emily is 13 and Sara is 12.)

Narrated by Ethan Hayes.

Mom's been really worried about grandpa ever since grandma died last summer. At first he barely got out of the house and most days he wouldn't have gotten out of bed if one of us didn't tell him to get up.

He's starting to get out more now, even popping out for lunch to the restaurant across the street from our house.

But then there are days when he just sits in the garden until it gets dark. It's hard to see him like this.

I guess his days would be really empty if it wasn't for Moses. Mom initially bought the dog for us kids after our old dog died but he has really become grandpa's dog. They keep each other company while we're at school and mom and dad are at work.

Uncle Stephen comes over quite often to check on grandpa especially during the day.

Mom's always happy to see him. It's kind of weird that she's old enough to be Stephen's mother when they're actually sister and brother.

Aaron and I are allowed to hang out at Generation X with our class mates after school some days. I've been friends with Emily ever since we were little kids but this year I started liking her in a completely different way.

Luckily she feels the same way! Both our parents think we're way too young to date so we're just hanging out together when we can. It's fun.

What's even funnier is that Aaron has a crush on Emily's little sister Sara. I'm just glad we don't like the same girl!

Emily and Sara's mom is our dad's boss so we don't want to make her angry by dating her daughters behind her back. Aaron is such a smoocher though that he could probably talk himself out of any situation. He's like every mother's favorite son-in-law, always so charming.

Everything seems so effortless for him. He gets A's from every exam that we have.

Homework is just a breeze for him while I struggle. I could really hate him if I didn't like him so much.

Mom and dad make us take Jeremy to the park with us whenever we go there. He usually meets a friend from school so we can just do whatever we want while he plays with his friends.

He's a bit shy but he gets along well with other kids and has a lot of friends.

It's kind of weird to think that he's starting high school in a couple of years. He's only 3 years younger than me and Aaron but we've always seen him as the baby of the family.

He's probably starve to death if we didn't drag him inside to grab a quick bite from the food stand.

He's a good kid though. I would never say it out loud but I love my brothers.

I often read him a bedtime story although mom doesn't really approve my choice of stories. Jeremy and I both love horror movies so I usually read him some horror story. It's odd but the little guy falls asleep when I read about brain-eating zombies and blood-thirsty vampires. I guess we're both a bit strange that way.

Notes:
  • Title reference: Breathe slow by Alexa Dixon.
  • Ethan and Emily only have 1 bolt (with non-matching turn-ons though) so it might not be the love story of a lifetime but I think they'd be cute together. I feel that their parents wouldn't want them to date anyone yet so they're not officially dating. Aaron and Sara have 2 bolts but they're not even friends yet and she's only 12 so dating is out of the question for them.
  • This was Jeremy's last family update as a child! How is that possible?! We'll see him as a kid in the elementary school update but the next time we visit the Hayes-Marlowes he'll be in high school already.
  • My game has started crashing again and unfortunately now it crashes when I try to save so playing is a bit tricky right now. I'll try to get updates done but it might take some time.

  1. I love the photo of Ethan reading a bedtime story about zombies and vampires to his little brother. It made perfect sense. Hopefully the crashing will get fixed soon.

  2. Apple Valley, I thought a 10-year-old boy probably wouldn't want to hear a bedtime story unless it was about monsters etc.

I hope I can fix the crashing. I just haven't figured out what's causing it this time.

    Thanks for reading. :)

  3. Poor Patrick...he seems so lost without Vicki. I'm glad he's got his family around him. And the dog - pets are a good comfort sometimes.

Ethan and Emily could make a cute couple. They're still kids, so they don't need to meet their one true love just yet. ;) I can't wait to see if anything comes of Aaron and Sara.

And wow, Jeremy is a teen soon! Three teenage boys in the one house - poor Alexandra!

I have to ask, where did you get Alexandra's outfit? It's so pretty!

Hope you can sort out the crashing problem. It sounds like an incredibly annoying one!

  4. I felt so sad for Patrick when he was sitting in the garden, in the dark, on his own! He sure missed Vicki :(

Such cute couples, Ethan and Emily and Aaron and Sara. I can't wait to see what will happen next :)

Wow, 3 teenage boys on the family next time! There will be hormones all over the place LOL :)

I have the same WCIF as Carla, I really like Alexandra's outfit ... :)

  5. Carla, Patrick is really missing Vicki. He's in perma plat so he doesn't burst into tears much but he's been acting differently than before.

That's exactly what I thought, Ethan and Emily have plenty of time to find that one true love when they're older. Aaron and Sara actually had their first kiss which I forgot to mention in the notes. But they need to get to know each other better before I even consider letting them date.

It'll be a house full of hormones next round! Poor Alexandra will need eyes in her back to keep those boys in order, lol.

Alexandra's outfit is from All About Style:

it's on the 5th row on that page.

The crashing is very annoying, especially when I've been building and then lose everything because my game crashes when I try to save. Hopefully I can fix it but I don't really know where to start.

    Thanks for reading. :)

Tanja, that picture of Patrick sitting in the garden is really sad. And it's not even posed! He did that several times, not just once.

I have the high school update scheduled for spring as well so you'll see more of Ethan and Emily and Aaron and Sara pretty soon.

It's going to be very interesting having 3 teen boys in one household. I don't think I've had that before in my game.

Alexandra's outfit is from All About Style, check my answer to Carla for a link.

    Thanks for reading. :)

  7. Carla, I was kind of surprised that you didn't have that outfit! I'm glad I could help :)

  8. Three teen boys in a household is going to be fun, I imagine! I've never had that. Jeremy is really cute, I like the photos of him tagging along with his big brothers, very sweet. And horror stories for bedtime sound like a teenage boy thing to do.

I feel sad for Patrick now that Vicki is gone. I'm glad that he has his family and Moses to help him through the healing.

  9. Maisie, I bet three teen boys will be fun. Jeremy really is cute. He looks a lot like Quinn although it's hard to tell because I don't know what Quinn looked like as a kid.

It's sad to see Patrick like this. At least he's not crying all the time (thanks to perma-plat) but it's easy to see that he's grieving.

    Thanks for reading. :)
