I'm not going to lie, I wasn't exactly thrilled to sell our house in Exmoor and move to Allerdale. But I can't really be unhappy about it, not with the way things have gone ever since. Danny and I are doing so much better now and I think that's very much due to us being in a good place financially. We've almost debt-free now and can actually breathe a lot easier nowadays without having to worry about how we are going to make ends meet.

Love can save it all

We'd been struggling financially ever since we moved into the house in Exmoor. No matter what we did, we just couldn't seem to pay off much of our huge mortgage and the situation started to take its toll on everything - our relationship, our kids, our work, everything.

It felt like we were heading towards a break-up because we were both so stressed out. I ended up sleeping on the sofa more nights that I care to think about because I just didn't want to go upstairs in case Janie was still awake and we'd end up fighting. We finally sat down and had a talk and came to the conclusion that we have to find a cheaper place to live.

Tom and I decided it's about time to take a little vacation - just the two of us. On our honeymoon we just drove up to my parents' cabin for a couple of days but this time we decided we needed a change of scenery so we booked flights and a room in a fancy hotel at Shirakawa Village.

We bought this house a little over a year ago and we just love it. Living in an apartment was fine but living in our own house is so much better. As an added bonus we live next door to Janie and Danny. Dixie and Tom also live in the same area.

My bosses seem to have lost their minds because they offered me a new position as Executive. Growing up it was always my dream to be an executive by the time I was 30 but my goals have changed so much since Danny and I started a family. I had mixed feelings about the promotion because I was afraid it would mean less time for my children but I was assured that I could work regular hours and do some extra work at home when needed. The extra money is very welcome so obviously I accepted the offer.

We moved into our own house just before Molly was born. It was furnished with the basics so all we needed to do was buy cribs for the kids. I'm on maternity leave until next year so I'm home with two toddlers and a baby all day.

We had to take up a huge mortgage but I'm still happy that we did it. The house is awesome. It was designed by Danny's big brother Ben who designs most of the residential houses in Wellington nowadays since mom is concentrating more on public buildings. Ben designs nature-friendly houses so part of the electricity that we use is actually produced by our own solar panels.

Phoebe and Samuel Lind have come to the hospital for an ultrasound. Doctor Sandra Williams keeps looking at the screen and finally Phoebe asks if something's wrong.

"I don't know how we've missed this before but..." Dr Williams says and turns the screen so that Phoebe and Samuel can see it. There are definitely two fetuses on the screen. "You're having twins" she continues.

Phoebe and Samuel look at each other and burst into laughter. They explain to Dr Williams that they had been struggling to get pregnant and now they're having two babies! Dr Williams smiles and continues the examination, telling that everything looks good.

Janie Greene and Denise Cooper have become friends and they visit each other often so that their kids can play together. They're both due in the Summer.

I've been slaving off at the faculty building this spring, taking extra courses in drawing and painting. My GPA dropped to 2.9 thanks to my slacking off and I really want to raise it before graduating.

Janie has entered second trimester and she's feeling surprisingly good. No signs of morning sickness or swollen ankles yet which is good because she and Danny are in the middle of looking for an apartment since they'll soon be moving back to Wellington.

Janie enjoys strolling around the campus with little Bridget who has just started walking.

Notes:

• The Greene-Cooper baby is due in the Autumn 2019 so not much longer to go. You'll see more of the family in Danny's last university update.
• I'm planning to do a bit of terrain surgery for the main hood and some minor tweaks on the university. And then maybe finally get some proper pictures of the hood and a proper tour around the hood. And I need to write a post about the education and career system since it has gone through major changes. And to do a few lot tours... why do I keep adding more things on my to-do list?!

I've grown to love our tiny house. And when I say tiny, I mean really tiny. We want to move to a bigger one someday but right now we enjoy living here. We couldn't afford a bigger house yet anyway and neither of us want to take on a huge mortgage.

Danny was put on academic probation last year because he got such poor grades on all his exams. He was already considering dropping out and getting a job but I suggested that maybe he should consider changing his major instead. I've never really understood why he chose art history in the first place. He's much more interested in commercial art and has been talking about wanting a career in graphic design after graduation.

Sam Cooper is 40, Grace is 35, Ross and Madelyn are 7 and James is 2.

We've been talking about getting a pet ever since we moved into this house. Initially Sam wanted to get a German Shepherd because he has worked with them in the military but I thought a smaller dog would be better. He finally gave in and we bought a Miniature Schnauzer male called Oscar.

It didn't take long before Oscar charmed Sam. The kids absolutely adore him and sometimes Madelyn and Ross even start fighting because they both want to play with him the moment they come home from school.
