Ghosts

Round 15: July 2023

Liv Harris is 25.
(Niall is 28, Minka is 5 and Nick is 3.)

Narrated by Liv Harris.

Niall and I got back together last year and for a while it was going really great.

However now it feels like maybe it wasn't such a good idea after all. I still like him but I just don't know if I can trust him. He never talks about his team's matches in other towns and I can only suspect what goes on after the matches. And somehow it feels like the flame has died. We used to be unable to keep our hands off of each other but now we're more like an old married couple with nothing to say to each other.

After a rather awkward dinner one evening I finally decided to take the step and broke it off. He was sad but at the same time I could tell he was a bit relieved as well.

We're hoping that some day we can be friends. It was a pretty amicable break-up but that doesn't mean it was easy and I think we both need some time apart before we can attempt to form some sort of friendship.

I'm concentrating on my career now. I was in a band for a while but I'm better off as a solo artist because that way I get to do the artistic choices. I recently put a couple of my own songs online and some record companies have been quite interested. I think I've finally found my own style so I need a good demo to send to those companies.

Max is letting me use his studio for free which is really nice of him. He says that he built it for use, not just for decoration. I think I'm going to pay him after I get my trust fund later this year. I've also been thinking about buying a house and building my own studio there. I'm not sure exactly how much money I'm getting but it should be enough for a nice house. I'm sick and tired of living in an apartment building with annoying neighbours.

I have very flexible hours now so I've been babysitting my new siblings couple of days a week while mom and dad are at work. They're really cute kids and have settled into their new home pretty well. It felt a bit weird to get a little sister and brother at my age but I'm glad mom and dad went through with the adoption.

I've never spent much time with little kids but we get along great. I've even bought some toys and children's books for entertainment.

Other than that I've been mostly staying home. I haven't even popped out for dinner because I don't think I'd be ready to see Niall with someone else quite yet. I know I'm the one who broke it off but still...

I've also been working on some new songs. I haven't heard back from the record companies yet but I can publish my songs on the internet or make an independent album without a record company if I feel like it.

A couple of weeks after the break-up I went to see a movie. The first person I saw was Jamie, one of the guys that I was dating two years ago when I got myself in trouble. I hadn't seen him since because I just wanted to forget that period of my life.

I had forgotten how much fun it was to spend time with him.

It turned out we were going to watch the same movie so naturally we sat next to each other. We were the first to arrive so we had some time to talk before the movie started.

Somehow he ended up putting his arm around me during the movie. It was a thriller with some really scary scenes so I didn't mind.

We decided to go have a late night snack at the diner that's open for 24 hours a day. I told him that I'm not looking for anything serious and he said that's fine because he's not looking for a relationship either. We ended up talking for hours.

The sun was already rising when I got back to my apartment. Jamie insisted on walking me home but he was a real gentleman when we got to my door. He just gave me a hug and a little peck on my cheek and then he left.

I ended up sleeping the whole day and staying up the next night writing new songs. I haven't felt this inspired for a long time.

Notes:
  • Title reference: Ghosts by Robbie Williams.
  • Liv and Niall broke up again and I feel that this time it's for good. But then again never say never. They didn't roll any wants for each other, just some general romantic wants to make out with 5 different sims etc. Liv really isn't ready for a commitment yet so I'm just going to let her date nice guys for a while.
  • Liv will get access to her trust fund on her 25th birthday in October. I don't remember the exact amount of money she has but I'd say it's more than enough to buy a house with a high-end recording studio.

  1. Liv's life looks to be quite interesting - and with her music and other things going on, she doesn't really need to be "tied down" with a guy just yet, does she!

    1. Liv is kind of a free spirit and you're right, she doesn't need to be tied down. She's definitely not looking for a commitment at this point. It's fun to have a sim that's so different from most of my other sims who want to get married and have lots of babies.

      Thanks for reading. :)

  2. I always enjoy reading about Liv, she's a really intersting person.
It's seems like it's for the best that she and Niall broke up, again. And I'm glad she got a nice evening out with Jamie.

    1. She's a really fun sim to play as well. You never know what will happen. The break-up was in the air the moment I started playing her. No wants for Niall at all and when I made him selectable he didn't have any wants for her either. I think they're best as friends.

      Thanks for reading. :)

    1. I think she made the right decision breaking up with Niall. It was obvious that their feelings have changed.

I wouldn't be surprised if Liv got to record her first album soon now that record companies are showing interest in her music.

      Thanks for reading. :)

  4. I'm glad she ended things with Niall. I have no doubts that he would have been up to no good when he was out of town. Whether she ends up with Jamie or somebody else ultimately, I'm glad she had a good time on her date. It must be nice to be with someone new, after being with Niall so long.

So cute to see her spending time with her new brother and sister as well. She must feel more like their aunty sometimes, with the age difference!

    1. I agree that the break-up was the right thing to do. Their relationship just wasn't the same after they got back together. Now she can go on dates, have fun and take things lightly without the fear of being cheated on. I wouldn't mind seeing her end up with Jamie but then again I think it's going to take a long time before she's ready for a commitment.

Liv does feel like Nick and Minka's aunty, especially since she already had a niece that's the same age as Nick. It's a huge age difference but I think it's not actually the biggest age gap in Wellington. The Whitfield kids have crazy age differences!

      Thanks for reading. :)

  5. The scenes with Liv and her younger sibling is adorable---she look like she's adjusting well.I was scratching my head at first wondering her parents would wait so long to have more children when they have a 25 year old daughter? Anyway, those are really cute scenes.

At least Liv can focus on her career; it's pretty pointless and a waste of time to commit to a relationship she's not really interested in.The fact that they were a bit hurt but relieved, just confirms that it was the right thing to do.I curious what's going to happen with her and Jamie.Even though both aren't interested in a relationship, I interested in seeing how their relationship grows.

    1. Ah yes, Liv's parents adopted Minka and Nick earlier this (sim)year. I like seeing her with the kids as well. I think she'll be a good mom if she ever settles down enough to have kids.

As I said to Carla, I wouldn't mind seeing Liv end up with Jamie but for now they're just casually dating. It might lead to a real relationship or it could end before it even began, only time will tell. I'm following her wants and at the moment she doesn't want to commit to anyone.

      Thanks for reading. :)

  6. It was great hearing from Liv again. That’s too bad about her and Niall but I don’t blame her for breaking it off. It’d be hard for me to trust again, too. I’m glad she had a nice impromptu date with a nice guy. You reminded me that I have a movie theater in my game that I have yet to use! I hope we see more of Jamie and good luck to Liv on getting signed to a label!

    1. With the trust issues and the spark gone, Liv just didn't see any point continuing the relationship with Niall. It definitely wasn't in my plans but my sims never listen to my plans, lol.

She enjoys spending time with Jamie and I'm very interested in seeing what will happen with him in the future. Hopefully her career will rise to a new level very soon, she's worked hard for it.

      Thanks for reading. :)
